The Arrondissments of Paris

As you can see from the Above illustration it's not difficult to remember the arrondissements and their location in Paris. The trick is to think of them being arranged a bit like the shell of a snail (escargot!), spiralling out from number one to number 20. If you can remember roughly where one or two of the Arrondissements are located, it's pretty easy to guess the rough position of any other using this method. Here is a brief guide to the major landmarks in each arrondissement.

 Le Louvre, Jardin de Tuileries.

 Bourse, Bibliotheque Nationale.

 Arts et Métiers.

Hôtel de Ville, Notre Dame de Paris, Ile de la Cité.

Panthéon, Sorbonne, St. Severin, Rue Mouffetard.

Jardin du Luxembourg, Institute de France, Le Galway.

Musée D'Orsay, Assemblée Nationale, Tour Eiffel, Invalides, Ecole Militaire.

Arc de Triomphe, Grand Palais, Champs Elysées.

 Rue la Fayette, Opéra.

Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est.

 Boulevard de Voltaire

Place de la Nation, Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, Gare de Lyon.

Place D'Italie, Bibliotheque Nationale de France François Mitterand.

 Parc de Montsouris, Montparnasse.

 Paris Expo, Gare Montparnasse.

 Trocadero.

 Palais de Congres.

 Montmatre.

 Parc des Buttes Chaumont.

 Cemetiere Du Pierre Lachaise
